Martin Frk and Brendan Smith scored second-period goals to help the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-2 preseason win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.

After Carter Rowney and Kris Letang scored for Pittsburgh to tie the game 2-2, Frk scored a power-play goal at 15:11, 1:10 after Letang's shorthanded goal, and Smith scored at 17:24.
Gustav Nyquist and Tyler Bertuzzi gave Detroit a 2-0 lead in the first period. Steve Ott scored with 17 seconds left in the third.
Penguins forward Phil Kessel played 21:13, had four shots on goal and was minus-2 in his first preseason game since having surgery on his hand during the offseason. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury allowed four goals on 29 shots.
Jared Coreau made 30 saves for Detroit.
