Smith fined for actions in Senators game against Penguins
Forward assessed $5,000 for elbowing Pettersson

NEW YORK - Ottawa Senators forward Zack Smith has been fined $5,000.00, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for elbowing Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson during NHL Game No. 784 in Pittsburgh on Friday, Feb. 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 6:46 of the second period. Smith was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing.
The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
