LOS ANGELES --The Los Angeles Kings didn't play well, but still won their seventh straight game when Drew Doughty scored 32 seconds into overtime to give them a 4-3 victory against the Ottawa Senators at Staples Center on Thursday.
"Tonight wasn't our best effort, that's for sure," said Doughty, who also had an assist. "This was probably our worst game over the last seven wins, for sure. We just don't give up. Whether we're down, whether we're up, we're trying to play the same way and I think we're doing a good job with that."

Doughty said he wanted to pass to Dustin Brown during the 2-on-1 in overtime, but took the shot instead and beat Mike Condon for the win.

Brown, Alex Iafallo and Tanner Pearson scored for the Kings (19-8-3). Darcy Kuemper made 37 saves and has not lost in regulation this season (5-0-2).
Matt Duchene, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Ryan Dzingel scored for the Senators (9-11-7), who have lost three straight and 10 of their past 11 (1-8-2). Condon made 34 saves.
Dzingel scored with 10 seconds left in the third period to tie the game at 3-3.
"There's a lot of really good things tonight and we deserved a better result, that's for sure," Duchene said. "This one stings."
Brown gave the Kings a 3-2 lead when he tipped Christian Folin's shot from the blue line twice and sent it over Condon with 3:28 remaining in the third.

The Kings took a 1-0 lead at 14:41 of the first period when Tyler Toffoli had a takeaway in the defensive zone, broke the other way, and left Ben Harpur off balance with his puck-handling before passing to Pearson in the slot.
Duchene tied it 1-1 at 16:24, with Ottawa scoring for the first time in three games, since the third period of a 6-5 win against the New York Rangers on Dec. 1; they had been shutout in each of their past two games.
Duchene, who scored his second goal in 13 games with the Senators after being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a three-team trade on Nov. 5, admitted he had been trying to do too much.
"It's tough to do in times like this and I think we're all suffering from it a little bit, so obviously nice to get that one early on the power play," said Duchene, who also had an assist. "There's lots of really good things to build on tonight and that's the next step is building on it now and not hanging our heads and being too disappointed."
Iafallo put the Kings in front 2-1 with a wrist shot under Condon's glove at 5:18 of the second period for his second NHL goal. The Senators scored at 8:08 to tie the game at 2-2 when Pageau scored off a rebound of a shot by Harpur.
Los Angeles, which lost seven of eight (1-6-1) prior to the winning streak, leads the Western Conference with 41 points.
"It means that we're going to have a target on our back, so we have to learn how to play with that," Brown said.

"I don't know if I've ever had a 2-on-1 for that long in my career with the puck. I was looking to pass the entire time and I kind of just decided to throw my toe over it and try to go five-hole. It wasn't the prettiest goal, but it went in and we won, so whatever." -- Kings defenseman Drew Doughty
"Tonight's a point. It's better than nothing. But we need wins. We need to win the last two games of this trip."-- Senators center Matt Duchene
