CHICAGO -- Patrick Kane scored his ninth goal, and the Chicago Blackhawks shut down the New York Rangers in a 4-1 win at United Center on Thursday.

Chicago limited New York to 19 shots on goal, including one in the third period, and Corey Crawford got his third straight win in his fourth start of the season.
"We played great," said Crawford, who had an assist on Jonathan Toews' goal to make it 1-0 2:55 into the game. "They didn't really throw a lot of pucks toward the net. In some ways, that could be tough if] we're not really getting that much action, but, I mean, we've played great."

Alexandre Fortin and Alex DeBrincat also scored for the Blackhawks (6-2-2).
Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves for the Rangers (3-6-1) after backing up Alexandar Georgiev in a 5-2 win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
New York, which played the first of a four-game trip, has not won on the road this season (0-3-1).
"It's just having the willingness to shoot," Rangers forward Chris Kreider said. "I know I passed up a couple of shots, and that's not something I usually do, I shouldn't be doing. Has to be consistent up and down. They stick to what they do well, but we need to get pucks in behind them, get on those pucks, move east to west, and hit pucks when they go north. Move pucks north-south to our D, bang pucks and get to the net."

NYR@CHI: Kane whips home puck from the crease

Toews scored on a breakaway to put the Blackhawks up early after Rangers defensemen Adam McQuaid and Brady Skjei collided.
"He's got that like power stride going," Kane said of Toews. "Which you've seen so much in the past. You saw it last game [a 3-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday], he kind of had that stutter step and went around the guy. Had a chance to score tonight coming up the middle with speed, able to get around one guy, they kind of click heels and he's got a breakaway."

NYR@CHI: Toews opens scoring after defensive miscue

New York's Pavel Buchnevich tied the game 1-1 at 4:09 of the first period. It was his third goal of the season.
Fortin scored to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead at 10:33 of the second period off a pass from Nick Schmaltz through the Rangers crease.
Artem Anisimov appeared to give Chicago a 3-1 lead at 12:07 of the third period, but the goal was waved off because referee TJ Luxmore had blown his whistle before the puck crossed the goal line.
Kane scored to make it 3-1 at 15:39 of the third. After Luxmore initially waved off the goal, the officials huddled and determined it was a good goal. Video review confirmed that call. Rangers coach David Quinn then challenged for goaltender interference by Kane, but the goal was upheld by video review.
Kane became the first Blackhawks player to score nine goals in the first 10 games of a season since Jeremy Roenick in 1993-1994.
"I kind of had an open net there, and it hit the post," Kane said. "And then my back was turned, and I thought I put it in the net. No one was really reacting. I was celebrating and no one was reacting, so I was like, 'Did I just miss that?' I didn't even know if it went in. I don't know, I guess it just came out so quick and they had to check and see if the net was on its pegs. Then goalie interference. It was like three different celebrations there."
DeBrincat scored into an empty net with 1:09 remaining for the 4-1 final score. It was his eighth goal.
The Blackhawks have killed 12 of their past 13 penalties.

NYR@CHI: Buchnevich puts home rebound to tie the game

They said it
"Well, most things we did well enough [to win], but it comes down to the last thing, and that's putting the puck in the net. And unfortunately, that's been the case in most games this year that we've lost. It's hard for us to get that second goal. If we can consistently get that second goal, we'll be in a lot of games, and maybe even a third goal. It's hard to score in this league. Teams are good and they defend well." -- Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist

NYR@CHI: Lundqvist makes great pad save on Kane

"He has the knack of scoring some big goals, important goals. Puck follows him around, he wants the puck, and he's probably played with everybody on some shifts this year. He elevates that line no matter who he's with." -- Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville on forward Patrick Kane
