Coyotes end Wild winning streak at five

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Minnesota Wild had their five-game winning streak end with a 5-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Thursday.
Christian Dvorak, Richard Panik, Kevin Connauton and Jordan Martinook scored third-period goals for Arizona (19-34-10), which is 7-2-1 in its past 10 games but trails the Anaheim Ducks and St. Louis Blues by 26 points for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.

Jakob Chychrun scored, Max Domi had three assists and Antti Raanta made 32 saves for the Coyotes, who rallied from three-goals down to defeat the Wild 4-3 in overtime Feb. 8 at Xcel Energy Center.
Zach Parise, Mikko Koivu and Matt Cullen scored for the Wild (36-21-7), who lost their first game in regulation this season when leading after one period (20-1-2). Minnesota is in third place in the Central Division, four points behind the Winnipeg Jets and two points ahead of the Dallas Stars. Alex Stalock made 20 saves.
"I really think what happened is you don't get rewarded for having a really good first period and second period and it's going to come back to bite you," said Wild coach Bruce Boudreau, whose team outshot Arizona 24-11 in the first two periods. "They got some momentum going, which they didn't have in the first two periods at all, and once they got the momentum they were hard to stop."

Parise gave the Wild a 1-0 lead at 15:36 of the first period. Nino Niederreiter sent a backhand pass to Parise streaking up the right wing and he beat Raanta to the glove side.
Chychrun tied it 1-1 on a power play at 17:28 of the second period when he got to a loose puck off a face-off to the left of Stalock and snapped a shot into the short side of the net.
Dvorak knocked in his own rebound to give Arizona 2-1 lead at 4:32 of the third period. The teams combined for 25 shots in the third period.
"The first period wasn't what we wanted," Dvorak said. "We didn't play good at all, but [Raanta] stood on his head there for us, and starting the second period we started waking up a little bit and then we found our game.
"I think from that last game up there we had a little confidence that we could come back on this team."
Koivu tied it 2-2 on a power play at 7:20 when he faked a pass and slipped in front of the net before beating Raanta to the far side.
Panik scored his first goal in 16 games with the Coyotes when he converted a one-timer from Oliver Ekman-Larsson from the right face-off circle for a 3-2 lead at 8:09.
Connauton made it 4-2 at 12:04 with his seventh goal of the season -- and sixth since Feb. 1 -- off Domi's third assist.
Cullen made it 4-3 at 13:13 when he poked a loose puck between Raanta's pads, but Martinook scored into an empty net at 19:49 for a 5-3 advantage.

Domi had his first three-point NHL game since Nov. 18, 2016 at Colorado. … Minnesota's top line of Jason Zucker, Eric Staal and Mikael Granlund was held without a point. The line had 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in its previous three games. … Clayton Keller had an assist to pass Anthony Duclair for the third-most assists by a Coyotes rookie in a season (28).
