The New York Islanders extended their point streak to four games on Sunday night, falling 4-3 in overtime to the Detroit Red Wings at Barclays Center.
The Islanders rallied twice in the third period to earn a valuable point, but couldn't complete the comeback in overtime, as Danny DeKeyser scored the game-winner 1:02 into the extra frame.

"Tonight was probably our weakest game in the last half dozen or so, but we still found a way to get a point," said Josh Bailey, who tied the score 3-3 at 15:39.

The Islanders showed their resiliency on Sunday, fighting back from a pair of one-goal deficits in the third period. Johnny Boychuk's fourth of the season tied the game 2-2 early in the period, while Bailey answered a late goal from Henrik Zetterberg.
"At that point you're pushing, trying to get one," Bailey said. "We had to come back twice and that's how our team is, we're a resilient bunch and just keep working. Put our heads down and keep going, but it was still a tough loss in overtime."
Bailey and head coach Jack Capuano both chalked up DeKeyser's OT goal - a top-shelf wrister from the slot - to the open nature of three-on-three.
"It's overtime, so once there's any kind of turnover or missed shot, they're coming back three-on-two," Capuano said.

Anders Lee opened the scoring in the first period with his sixth goal of the season and fifth in the last six games. Cal Clutterbuck set the goal up, pulling goaltender Petr Mrazek out of position as he drove wide and below the goal line, before dishing back to Lee in the slot. Faced with an empty net, Lee snapped it home and put the Islanders up 1-0.
The Red Wings answered with a pair of goals from Mike Green, who beat Jaroslav Halak with a one-timer at 12:53 of the first period and snapped a feed from Thomas Vanek from Halak at 14:40 of the second. Green nearly completed the hat trick, but his would-be third was overturned on the coach's challenge in the third period, as Luke Glendening interfered with Halak.
Down 2-1 entering the third, Boychuk tied the game for the Islanders, skating in undetected while Clutterbuck and Casey Cizikas created chaos in front of the Wings' net. Clutterbuck didn't get an assist on the play, but made a heady play to roll out of Mrazek's way after falling down in the crease, taking away any potential for goalie interference to be called.

Zetterberg reestablished the Red Wings lead with a backdoor deflection at 13:06, but Bailey brought the Islanders back with a hard-working goal just over two minutes later. Bailey and John Tavares crashed the net hard and both went for the loose puck, but Bailey got his stick on it last, getting the game to overtime.
"Each point is crucial, but it still doesn't feel very satisfying right now not getting the two points in a game we felt we needed to win," Tavares said.
The Islanders return to action on Tuesday night when they host the New York Rangers at Barclays Center. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
