Since returning to Seattle, the Coquitlam, BC native has taken over the team lead in assists with 17 despite missing 16 games while up with the Islanders. Barzal also added his second goal of the season in Seattle's 5-4 overtime loss to Kamloops.
Barzal added a trio of assists in both Friday & Saturday's wins against Kootenay & Medicine Hat, earning Third Star honors in Friday night's 4-3 overtime win over the Ice.
Barzal is currently riding a five game point-streak (2G, 13A). Since Barzal's return to Seattle, the T-Birds have gone 8-1-2 (7-8-1 before his return) and have jumped up to third place in the U.S. Division.

VandeSompel
CHL D-Men Leading their Leagues

Mitchell Vande Sompel had a monster week, earning five points (4G, 1A) with two game-winning goals in two games this week to help the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League earn back-to-back road wins. The 5'10 London, Ontario native has 25 points (11G, 14A) in 25 games this season for the Generals.
Vande Sompel recorded his first career hat-trick in Wednesday's win over North Bay earning him earn First-Star honors. On Friday, Vande Sompel scored the game-winning goal in the Generals 2-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs, where he earned Second-Star honors.
Vande Sompel now leads all OHL defenseman in goals while the Generals sit atop the OHL's Eastern Conference.
Elsewhere in the junior ranks, David Quenneville (Medicine Hat Tigers) continues to pace the WHL in both goals (14) and points (34) while Tri-City Americans' defenseman & Islanders 2015 fourth-round pick, Parker Wotherspoon ranks second in WHL assists from defenseman with 22.

Adams Continues to Lead USHL

Collin Adams continues to pace the United States Hockey League with 27 points (15G, 12A) in 23 games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The Islanders' 2016 sixth-round pick scored the Lumberjacks' lone goal in their 2-1 to the Lincoln Stars, enough to earn him a Third Star honors.
Adams is currently in his second full season in the USHL and through 23 games this season, Adams has only been held of the score sheet seven times.

Bellows Named To World Junior Prelim Team, NCAA Updates

Kieffer Bellows was named to USA Hockey's World Junior Preliminary Team on Monday. Bellows, the Islanders 2016 first-round pick (19th overall) is currently in his first season at Boston University where he has five points (4G, 1A).
Bellows, Doyle Somerby and Boston University Terriers went 1-0-1 this week during a home-and-home with the Providence Friars. The Terriers bumped their national ranking from 6 to 5 with their 1-0-1 week.
Jake Bischoff, Taylor Cammarata the No. 11 University of Minnesota Golden Gophers spilt their weekend series with Ohio State. Bischoff had an assist in Friday night's win while Cammarata added a helper in Saturday's loss.
Nick Pastujov and the No. 20 Michigan Wolverines dropped both games in their weekend series with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
