Facts and Figures: Milestone night for Crosby, Trotz

Sidney Crosby became the 48th player in NHL history to reach 1,200 points when he had a goal and two assists for the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 3-2 overtime victory against the Florida Panthers at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday.

Point No. 1,200 came 16 seconds into the second period, when Crosby assisted on the first of Jake Guentzel's two goals. He also scored at 10:01 of the second period and assisted on Guentzel's game-winner at 2:44 of overtime.
Crosby (1,202 points; 441 goals, 761 assists in 927 games) joins San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton (1,465 points; 410 goals, 1,055 assists in 1,550 games) as the only active players to reach 1,200 points. Of the 48 players to reach 1,200 points, Crosby required the 11th-fewest games. The fastest was Wayne Gretzky, who got his 1,200th point in his 504th NHL game Dec. 13, 1985.
The 31-year-old center is the second player in Penguins history to have 1,200 points, joining Mario Lemieux (1,723 points; 690 goals, 1,033 assists in 915 games). The Penguins are the fourth team in NHL history and first non-Original Six team to have more than one player reach 1,200 points. The others are the Detroit Red Wings (Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman and Alex Delvecchio), Boston Bruins (Ray Bourque and Johnny Bucyk) and Montreal Canadiens (Guy Lafleur and Jean Beliveau).

Islanders give Trotz 800th victory

Barry Trotz became the fourth coach in NHL history to have 800 regular-season victories when the New York Islanders defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-4 in a shootout at Nassau Coliseum.
Jordan Eberle and Mathew Barzal scored in the tiebreaker to give Trotz win No. 800 and move the Islanders (38-21-7) back into first place in the Metropolitan Division.
Trotz joins Scotty Bowman (1,244), Joel Quenneville (890) and Ken Hitchcock (843) as the only coaches to reach 800 wins.

Kucherov ties Lightning single-season points record

NHL scoring leader Nikita Kucherov had two assists to help the League-leading Tampa Bay Lightning (51-12-4) win their eighth consecutive home game, 5-2 against the Winnipeg Jets at Amalie Arena. Kucherov, who leads the NHL with 108 points (31 goals, 77 assists), tied the Lightning record for most points in a season. Vincent Lecavalier had 108 points (52 goals, 56 assists) in 2006-07.
The Lightning scored at least five goals in a game for the 28th time this season (including shootout-deciding goals). The last season to feature a team scoring at least five goals in more than 28 games was 1995-96, when Pittsburgh (41), the Colorado Avalanche (31) and Detroit (30) each did so.
Andrei Vasilevskiy made 30 saves and is 10-0-0 in his past 10 games. He moved within one of matching the Lightning record for longest winning streak, a mark set by his backup, Louis Domingue, who went 11-0-0 from Nov. 29, 2018-Feb. 19, 2019. Tampa Bay is the first team in NHL history to have multiple goalies each with a winning streak of at least 10 games in the same season.

Bruins top Hurricanes, extend streaks

David Krejci's goal at 1:46 of overtime gave the Bruins their eighth consecutive win at TD Garden, 4-3 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Bruins (40-17-9) also stretched their point streak to 17 games (13-0-4) and extended their lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs for second in the Atlantic Division to three points. Boston has not lost in regulation since the New York Rangers won 3-2 at TD Garden on Jan. 19.
It's the seventh time since entering the NHL in 1924 that the Bruins have had a point streak of at least 17 games and the second in as many seasons; they were 14-0-4 from Dec. 16, 2017-Jan. 25, 2018. The longest point streak in Bruins history is 23 games (15 wins, eight ties) set from Dec. 22, 1940-Feb. 23, 1941.
Forward Brad Marchand assisted on a shorthanded goal by linemate Patrice Bergeron for his 38th shorthanded point in the regular season (25 goals, 13 assists). He is second to Penguins forward Matt Cullen (39 points; 21 goals, 18 assists) for the most among active NHL players. Cullen played in

Price ties Plante for most wins in Canadiens history

Carey Price made 26 saves for the Canadiens in a 3-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center for his 314th NHL win, tying Jacques Plante for the most in Montreal history.
Price needs one more win to become the fifth goalie to conclude a season as the Canadiens' all-time wins leader. He would join Plante (1959-60 to 2017-18), Bill Durnan (1948-49 to 1958-59), George Hainsworth (1930-31 to 1947-48) and Georges Vezina (1917-18 to 1929-30).
