DALLAS, TEXAS - The Columbus Blue Jackets wrapped up the 2018 National Hockey League Draft by selecting five players during rounds two through seven on Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. During the two-day draft, the Jackets selected four forwards, along with a defenseman and goaltender.
With the Blue Jackets' first pick of the day, the club selected forward
Kirill Marchenko
in the second round, 49th overall. The 17-year old skated in two games with Khanty-Mansiysk in the Kontinental Hockey League and tallied eight goals and eight assists for 16 points with 33 penalty minutes in 31 games with the club's junior squad in the MHL in 2017-18. The Barnaul, Russia native also recorded 3-3-6 in five games at the 2018 IIHF U18 World Championships. The 6-3, 187-pound right wing spent the 2016-17 campaign with the Khanty-Mansiysk junior team (MHL), posting 15-11-26 in 29 appearances and added 19-21-40 in 23 games with the Under17 team.
VISIT BLUE JACKETS DRAFT CENTRAL

In the third round, the Jackets selected Leksands IF forward
Marcus Karlberg
, 18, with the 80th overall pick. He posted 21-41-62 and 34 penalty minutes in 52 games with three different teams in Leksands IF's system in 2017-18. He spent most of the campaign with the junior team, recording 15-32-47 and 24 penalty minutes in 39 games in the SuperElit league. A native of Leksand, Sweden, the 5-7, 165-pound forward also made his professional debut, recording a goal in two contests in the Allsvenskan (Sweden's Second Division). In 2016-17, he notched 14-30-44 and 69 penalty minutes split between Leksands IF's junior and Under-18 squads.
Columbus acquired a sixth-round selection, 159th overall, from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a 2019 fifth round pick. The club used the pick to select GCK Zurich defenseman
Tim Berni
, 18, who skated in eight games with Zurich in the Swiss National League and added 5-10-15 and 41 penalty minutes in 36 contests with GCK Zurich in the Swiss-2 league in 2017-18. A native of Mannedorf, Switzerland, he also skated in five games at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championships. In 2016-17, the 5-11, 174-pound blueliner tallied 4-12-16 and 18 penalty minutes in 41 games with GCK Zurich Jr. in Switzerland's junior league.
With their own sixth round pick, 173rd overall, the Blue Jackets selected Kärpät goaltender
Veini Vehviläinen
. He posted a 1.89 goals-against average and .925 save percentage in 35 regular season games in Finland's top pro league (Liiga) in 2017-18 to capture the Urpo Ylönen Award as the Liiga's Best Goaltender and was named to the Liiga All-Star Team. He helped the club capture the league championship after recording a 1.57 GAA and .933 SV% in 17 playoff contests. The 21-year old Jyvaskyla, Finland native played in 27 Liiga games split between Jyp and Sport in 2016-17, posting a 2.20 GAA and .918 SV% in 18 contests on loan with Sport. The 6-1, 183-pound netminder led the 2017 World Junior Championships in GAA (1.51) and SV% (.931) and was named a Top 3 Player for Finland.
With their final selection of this year's draft, the Blue Jackets selected Edmonton Oil Kings right wing
Trey Fix-Wolansky
. The 19-year old notched 32-57-89 and 81 penalty minutes in 71 Western Hockey League games in 2017-18. The 5-6, 194-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta native collected 24-30-54 in 70 contests with Edmonton in 2016-17.
