CBJ@DET: Texier scores beauty on wraparound

DETROIT --Joonas Korpisalo made 35 saves for the Columbus Blue Jackets in their first win of the season, 3-2 against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena on Monday.

Alexandre Texier and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored third-period goals for the Blue Jackets (1-2-0), who were outscored by the Nashville Predators 8-3 in their first two games of the season.
"It was a matter of time before we got a win -- we just haven't been playing our best hockey," Dubois said. "This is good for our confidence."
Bobby Ryan scored two goals, and Thomas Greiss made 26 saves for the Red Wings (1-2-0), who have lost five straight games to the Blue Jackets dating to the 2018-19 season.
"We competed hard today, which we need to do every day, and I thought we played really well in the first half of the game," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. "They weren't at their best early on, and I thought they got better and outskated us in the second half of the game. We started turning the puck over too much and that means you are doing a lot of defending."

"It's easy for me to put Texier
.
"We needed to match their speed and we did that in the second period," Bjorkstrand said. "We started playing faster and we got some momentum."
Bjorkstrand, who also had an assist on Texier's goal, said the Blue Jackets would have to put this win behind them quickly with another game against the Red Wings on Tuesday.
"We're going to play a lot of games against the same teams, and it is going to be intense at times," he said. "It is going to be important to keep our composure."
NOTES: Red Wings forwards Robby Fabbri and Adam Erne were placed on the NHL COVID-19 protocol list before the game and replaced by Rasmussen and Frans Nielsen in the lineup. … The penalty shot by Jones was the first by a defenseman in Blue Jackets history.
