To say the Washington Capitals are excited to have acquired Kevin Shattenkirk in a trade with the St. Louis Blues would be a bit of an understatement.

The Capitals brought in the all-star defenseman
Monday, sending draft picks and Zach Sanford to St. Louis.
While fans were going wild on Twitter, the team's official account and some players were also excited to have him in the mix.
The Capitals rolled out the social media red carpet, tweeting a

top 10 goals and a picture of a

with his name on it. They even changed their profile picture to the newly acquired player.

Shattenkirk will be reunited Capitals forward TJ Oshie, who was his Blues teammate from 2011-2015. Oshie is ecstatic to be back on the same side as his old friend.

Capitals forward Tom Wilson posted a picture of Shattenkirk and Ovechkin going nose-to-nose, saying the trade was "fate."

On the other side of the coin, Blues teammate Scottie Upshall was sad to see Shattenkirk dealt, but clearly thinks he and Ovechkin will make a killer combo.

Shattenkirk announced his appreciation and gratitude for the six-plus seasons he spent in St. Louis.

The Capitals also took the time to say good bye to Sanford, who is headed out of town.
