In addition, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation will host a Green Auction, with all proceeds benefiting the Anacostia Watershed Society and the Anacostia Waterfront Trust. The auction will feature autographed, limited edition green jerseys worn during the pregame warmups prior to the Capitals game versus the Islanders on March 16. The auction also will feature autographed sticks wrapped with green tape and autographed green pucks.

Friday, March 16, also marks the team's #CapsStPaddys celebration. All fans in attendance will have the chance to participate in activations in honor of the holiday.
The Anacostia Watershed Society (AWS) works to restore and protect the Anacostia River and its watershed communities with an ultimate goal of restoring the Anacostia to a fishable and swimmable river. Since its founding in 1989, AWS has engaged more than 100,000 adults and youth in its programs. With volunteers, the organization has planted more than 51,000 native trees and plants, eradicated 58 acres of invasive plant cover, restored more than 12 acres of wetland habitat, removed 1,295 tons of trash and debris from the river (and 11,720 tires), and created more than 2.5 million square feet of green roofs and rain gardens to annually treat millions of gallons of storm water runoff each year. AWS has educated and engaged more than 40,000 watershed students and trained 1,238 teachers from Maryland and DC to present watershed curriculum to their students.
The Anacostia Waterfront Trust is a Washington, D.C., based nonprofit whose mission is to encourage and facilitate a cleaner, more active, more equitable and more resilient Anacostia River waterfront. 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the federal law creating Anacostia Park-a huge waterside park, shared by the federal and D.C. governments, larger than New York City's Central Park or San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. The Trust has a special focus on helping to activate and improve the park area, maximizing its beneficial impact on the surrounding communities. With the National Park Service, The Anacostia Waterfront Trust is leading region-wide efforts to celebrate 2018 as the Year of the Anacostia, and to make sure that the next 100 years take full advantage of this outstanding public resource.
