Devils rally past Predators in OT

NASHVILLE -- Michael Cammalleri scored with 18 seconds left in overtime to give the New Jersey Devils a 5-4 win against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Saturday.
Taylor Hall passed to Cammalleri and he shot it past Pekka Rinne for his second goal of the game and ninth of the season.
"I actually missed the net to start the whole play, which is not a good thing to do in overtime," Cammalleri said. "They came down, [Devils goaltender Keith Kinkaid] made a really good save, and then, like what happens in overtime, our goalie makes a big save. We might get an outnumbered rush the other way. Got the puck to [Hall], and he did the rest."

New Jersey (11-7-6) scored three goals in the third period to tie the game 4-4.
"No game is going to go perfect," Hall said. "Sometimes even if you don't have your best effort on some nights, you've got to play until the final whistle. That was a case where we really needed this win on the road, a lot of desperation in that third period. We need to play like that all the time."
Rinne allowed five goals on 22 shots for Nashville (11-8-4).
Cammalleri and Andy Greene scored 30 seconds apart in the first minute of the third period to make it 4-3.

Adam Henrique tied the game 4-4 on the power play at 12:37 of the third. He got the puck in the right faceoff circle and beat Rinne for his fifth goal.
Kevin Fiala gave the Predators a 1-0 lead at 16:14 of the first period on a redirection next to Kinkaid.

"I thought tonight was his best game in a Predators uniform," Nashville coach Peter Laviolette said. "He worked extremely hard. He brought the puck to the net. He was confident in what he was doing so that's a real positive for him and his line. I thought they did a lot of good things offensively out there, but [Fiala] did a lot of great things offensively."
Hall scored to make it 1-1 at 17:31 of the first. Rinne made the initial save and Hall batted the puck out of the air with his stick for his sixth goal.
P.K. Subban gave the Predators a 2-1 lead with 39.3 seconds remaining in the first on a wrist shot from the slot.
Fiala gave the Predators a 3-1 lead at 6:02 of the second period on a tap-in from below the left faceoff circle. Forward Craig Smith delivered a cross-ice pass to Fiala, who beat Kinkaid for his second goal of the game and fifth of the season.
Roman Josi gave the Predators a 4-1 lead at 14:31 of the second on a one-timer from the point. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm delivered the pass and Josi beat Kinkaid for his third goal.

Hall batted the puck out of midair past Rinne, keeping his stick below the crossbar and beating the Predators goalie above the shoulder.

Save of the game

Kinkaid made a save on Josi late in the third period on a backhand to keep the game 4-4. Josi got around the Devils defense and Kinkaid made the save with his glove.

Unsung moment of the game

Kinkaid made a pad save on Predators forward Calle Jarnkrok from point-blank range late in the second period to keep the game 4-1. Kinkaid made the save, and the puck went off of the post.

Highlight of the game

Subban scored a highlight-reel goal when he made a toe-drag move to get around the Devils defense and beat Kinkaid with the shot.

"We called a timeout at the three-minute mark, and for the rest of the period I thought we dominated. They ended up cashing in on a power-play goal with seven or eight minutes to go in the period and got a tie out of it. I thought we had plenty of opportunity to win once it was 4-3 to get the fifth one. We kept pushing and kept attacking, and it didn't happen. Need to know

Devils forward Pavel Zacha left the game with a facial laceration. There was no update on the severity of his injury.
