Brent Seabrook is getting the lay of the land early.

The Chicago Blackhawks defenseman made an appearance at Notre Dame Stadium, the site of the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, on Saturday.
Seabrook was on hand to watch the Fighting Irish take on Michigan in an early-season college football rivalry game. Or maybe he was scouting. Defenseman Connor Murphy was
also in attendance
.

Seabrook also brought along his son, Carter.

Of course, the ice wasn't out there, but it couldn't hurt to get a feel for the atmosphere.
"I think it's going to be a great time coming out here, getting a hockey rink on here and playing some hockey," Seabrook told NBC prior to kickoff.
The New Year's Day game, which features the Blackhawks against the Boston Bruins, will be Seabrook's sixth outdoor game and fourth Winter Classic.
