Jonathan-Quick-No.-5-Goalie-NHLTopPlayers-Right-Now-2017-18

The NHL Network continued their
#NHLTopPlayers Right Now
by ranking the Top 10 Goaltenders in the League.
And after a bounce-back season in 2017-18, Jonathan Quick finds himself near the top of the list.

Quick returned from an injury-plagued 2016-17 season in a big way. The three-time All-Star went 33-28-3 with a 2.40 goals against average and .921 save percentage to lead the LA Kings back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His bounce-back season helped him earn
earn the William M. Jennings Trophy for the second time in his career
.
The Jennings Trophy is an annual award given to the goalkeeper(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it. Winners are selected based on regular-season play.

Quick saw the most action on a Kings team that allowed a League-low 203 goals, eight fewer than the Nashville Predators (211) and 11 clear of the Boston Bruins (214).
"Quick not only reads the game well, which allows him to be aggresive, but he has the power in his legs and the flexibility that allows him to play a unique style," NHL Network's Brian Boucher said.

Quick had 33 wins last season, marking the sixth time he has won at least that many in the past eight full NHL seasons. In the past five, he has had a GAA worse than 2.26 once (2.40 last season), and his save percentage has not been worse than .915 (2013-14). In 2015-16, he led the NHL in starts (68) and went 40-23-5 to finish third in Vezina voting, the third time in five seasons he was in the top five.

Quick's return to form helped him
move up one spot from last year's ranking
.
Previously, Anze Kopitar was
ranked No. 6 on the #NHLTopPlayers Top 20 Centers list
, and Drew Doughty was
ranked No. 2 on the the Top 20 Defensemen
