It's a modern world for pro athletes and sometimes the biggest of news comes from a tweet or a TV soundbite. One minute you're grinding it out in Motown and the next you're headlining on the Las Vegas Strip.
Tomas Tatar traded in his original six Detroit Red Wings jersey on Monday for the innovative yet authentic uniform of the league's 31st NHL franchise, the Vegas Golden Knights.
"I was sitting in front of the TV. When the deadline was close to done, nothing was really happening for me," said Tatar, prior to Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Kings in his first availability with the Vegas media. "I just left the TV on and left the room for a second. I came back and then I kept on getting messages from friends and family. Then Kenny (Holland) called me and later George (McPhee) called me. It kind of went down fast. This is my first trade but I didn't really know what to expect so I was a little stressed out. It worked out well for me and the Vegas staff was really helpful with me moving and I was fortunate for that.
