OPPOSITION UPDATE
Toronto got off to a rocky start this season, including being defeated 3-1 by Vegas on Oct. 24. Recently, they've picked up speed and are on a three-game win streak. On Sunday, they defeated the Hurricanes 3-1. They took down the Bruins 2-1 on Saturday and beat the Flyers 5-1 on Nov. 2.
The Leafs carry a 7-4-2 record with 16 points into Tuesday's game. Toronto sits tied with Detroit for second in the Atlantic Division. Leading the team is captain John Tavares with 15 points (8G, 7A). Mitch Marner is behind him with 14 points (2G, 12A). Tied for third in scoring with 13 points each are Auston Matthews (6G, 7A) and William Nylander (5G, 8A).
A VEGAS VICTORY WOULD…
- Mark the 226th win in franchise history
- Give Vegas its first eight-game win streak since April of 2021 when the team won a franchise-record 10 consecutive games
KEYS TO THE GAME
Power play:Toronto's power play is ranked 8th in the league, while Vegas is 13th. The Golden Knights should avoid giving Toronto the man advantage. Their offense is strong to begin with, so the Maple Leafs are even more dangerous on the power play.
Early offense: The Maple Leafs have some of the top scorers in the league. If the Golden Knights can control the game early on, it will give them a decent cushion to try to hold on and extend their lead against Toronto's offensive weapons.
