In 477 NHL games he's totaled 31 goals and 59 points along with 779 penalty minutes.
Reaves arrived in Vegas late Saturday and spoke early Sunday on the three-way trade involving the Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators and Golden Knights.
Vegas gave up minor league prospect Tobias Lindberg and took on a portion of Derick Brassard's salary, who landed in Pittsburgh, and in return received Reaves and a fourth round draft pick.
"I was obviously surprised. Getting traded to Pittsburgh this summer, I thought I was going to be there. Ottawa was involved in that trade and things happen. It's a business and here I am. I'm glad to be here," said Reaves, 31. "There's definitely worse teams, worse places in the standings and definitely worse cities. I'm really excited to be in Vegas on a really good team. (T-Mobile) has the best atmosphere I think I've ever played in front of. It was loud, it was bumping the whole game. I always said San Jose was probably my favorite, but I think Vegas took over."
Reaves previously played in St. Louis with David Perron and is from Winnipeg where Golden Knights forwards Cody Eakin and Brendan Leipsic were also born. Reaves also played his junior hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings under Vegas assistant GM Kelly McCrimmon.
"I'm not a shy guy. I think that I can fit in with most people. I think it will be easy here. I've heard good things about the chemistry with this team. I don't expect any problems," said Reaves. Perron stated after the trade that it would take Reaves about 48 hours to assert himself in the Vegas dressing room as the resident leader in chirping teammates. "Forty-eight hours? I told him I would be leading by the time the plane arrives in (LA today). I'm glad he thinks so little of me."
