Rick Tocchet's Philadelphia Flyers are in Beantown on Tuesday to take on Marco Sturm's Boston Bruins in preseason action at TD Garden.

Game time is 7:00 p.m. EDT. The match will be broadcast on NBCSP.

On Monday in Hershey, the Flyers opened their four-game preseason schedule with a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Philadelphia did not dress most of their incumbent forwards or any of their five holdover defensemen from 2025-26. Rookie hopeful Cole Knuble impressed with a goal and an assist. Veteran depth forward Jack Studnicka opened the scoring with an early power play goal.

Early in the second period, the Flyers lost second-year forward Denver Barkey to a lower-body injury. There was no update available on his status after the game.

Here are the RAV4 Things to watch on Tuesday in Boston.

1. Different personnel. On Monday in Hershey, few NHL regulars dressed for the Flyers. For example, none among Travis Sanheim, Rasmus Ristolainen, Cam York, Jamie Drysdale, Nick Seeler, Travis Konecny, Matvei Michkov, Trevor Zegras, Noah Cates, Sean Couturier,  Tyson Foerster, Owen Tippett or newcomer Noel Acciari were in the lineup.

Do not look yet for a full complement of NHL regulars until the latter half of the preseason, when the Flyers return to Philadelphia to rematch with Washington and Boston. However, there will be a smattering of familiar games in the second preseason tilt.

2. Vladar and Kolosov. Newcomer Joseph Woll (first two periods) and second year pro Carson Bjarnason (final 20 minutes) split the goaltending chores on Monday in Hershey.

There is a strong possibility that the Flyers will go with a similar minutes split on Tuesday between returning No. 1 goalie Dan Vladar and third-year Lehigh Valley Phantoms netminder Aleksei Kolosov. Come Thursday and Saturday, Woll and Vladar are likely play the full game for the Flyers.

3. Take away the dangerous areas. Over the final 30 minutes of Monday's game the Flyers got sloppy in how they defended the middle of the ice and the weak (non-puck) side of the defensive zone. That's something Tocchet wants to see the club clean up sooner rather than later.

4. Special teams. The Flyers want to start building their timing and rhythm on both sides of special teams over the remaining three preseason matches. On Monday, they officially went 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill with Washington converting a two-man advantage in the first period.

However, along the way, the Flyers also had a failed five-minute power play that did not generate much pressure. They also coughed up a shorthanded goal. These factors, along with allowing late period goals in the first and second periods, are areas the team needs to address by opening night.
