The Ducks (2-1-0) hit the road for a two-game Canadian trip as they head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets (3-0-1).
Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Prime Video and FOX Los Angeles + (Channel 13 KCOP).
After taking a 2-0 lead against Edmonton on Wednesday, the Oilers scored five unanswered goals in the second period to hand Anaheim its first loss of the season.
“We approached the start of the year in good shape,” head coach Joel Quenneville said. “We got a market correction today so let’s see how we handle it. Let’s respond in the correct way.”
"I think we just came out flat in the second," Beckett Sennecke said. "Probably thought it was going to be an easy game, and it wasn't... Don't take any periods for granted. We came out flat in the second, and can't do that again."
Both the Ducks’ goals came on the power play once again. Leo Carlsson’s two assists made him the first Ducks player in franchise history to mark multiple points in each of his first three games.
The Jets improved their win total on the season with a 3-2 victory to end the Avalanche’s win streak on Wednesday. The win came with a downside as the team lost top defenseman Josh Morrissey to an upper body injury.
While he’s listed as day-to-day, Jets head coach Scott Arniel said Morrissey will not play against the Ducks tonight.
Despite the loss, Arniel noted what his team needs to be cognizant of with Anaheim on the ice.
“They're quick, they're big, so we're gonna have to really do a job in our end of the ice, making sure we cut them off quickly,” he said of the Ducks. “Don't give them room to allow their defense to get motion and movement. The faster we can close and cut people off, that limits how much they can do on our end.”
At this point in the season, Sennecke leads the Ducks with three goals while Carlsson paces the team with six assists and seven points. As for the Jets, Kyle Connor has five goals and seven points on the season.
Tonight’s game is the first of a back-to-back before the team plays Calgary tomorrow night at 7 p.m. PT.
