With four wins in their last five games, the Devils are truly out of their funk which saw them go 1-9-1 leading into the extended Christmas break.
"It's fun to win. The guys are a lot more upbeat. It's a breath of fresh air in that room right now. It's fun to be around," noted Devils defenseman Ty Smith.
Smith added that a reset button that was the break was beneficial for the club as can be seen with four wins in five since coming out of it.
"The hockey's been great. We've been finishing on chances. When we were losing, we were struggling to do that a bit. We're playing hard and playing for each other," he added. "A little break, give guys a reset button. That's been good for the group."
Devils head Coach Lindy Ruff added that it's impressive that the team has been able to go on their roll despite injuries and Covid protocol continuing to create lineup upheaval.
"You feel good about the way you're playing. A lot of times lines have stayed the same but we've constantly had players changing," stated Ruff. "A lot of players have been in on the offense. When you score goals, people feel good about their game."
