fcltp testimonials

The Future Caps Learn to Play program presented by World Wide Technology aims to be the gold standard for youth hockey programs with the goal of inspiring more families to join the hockey community and is offered to new, first-time participants (boys and girls), between the ages of five (5) to nine (9).
Learn to Play changes the way youth hockey is offered by providing first-time participants free head-to-toe equipment, eight (8) classes of age appropriate on-ice instruction, visits from Capitals Alumni Ambassadors, and certified coaching in a fun and safe atmosphere.

Below are first-hand testimonials from parents about how impactful our Learn to Play program is:

Our daughter has been a fan of hockey for a few years now, and recently fell in love with ice skating. But beyond finding open skate rink time, we didn't know how else to get her involved and engaged. Then we found the LTP. We couldn't be more happy that the Learn to Play program exists. The professional equipment and top notch coaching were really impressive. I haven't seen my daughter this excited about something in a while! Thank you to the Washington Capitals and to the NHL for helping lower the barrier to entry to hockey for our youth, and especially for girls.

As someone who grew up in a cold-weather state and still plays adult rec hockey today...seeing my son embrace hockey with the same love and passion that I did when I was a kid brought tears of joy to my eyes. He's now wanting to go to every stick n' puck we can. He literally cannot get enough time on the ice and it's given us something to bond over. I'm incredibly grateful...Thank you! #LetsGoCaps

Our two boys (ages 6 & 8) are huge Caps fans and they really got the hockey bug this past winter. When the Caps LTP program came up we got them signed up fairly easily. They were so excited when their gear arrived in the mail, they put it all on that day and played street hockey for about an hour. Once the LTP program started, it was even better. I've never seen them enjoy a sport so much that they could do it straight for a solid hour and a half and come off the ice smiling and drenched in sweat. Looking forward to the fall and picking up where they left off!

Throughout this program, I watched my son develop not only skating, puck handling and stick skills, but also watched his confidence blossom and his grit and tenacity grow. This was such a great workout for him during a time of limited activity availability, and the prestige of doing it alongside professional coaches and athletes gave him a sense of pride and determination to improve his skills. The coaches were kind, firm, and fun and ensured every kid got an equal chance to develop over the program. I watched them encourage and coach recovery from failures in drills and scrimmages, which is an incredibly valuable life skill. I especially appreciated the comradery they created on the ice. Not only did my son love this experience, his younger sister is begging to do the next session too!

The FCLTP program provides a unique and unparalleled introduction to the sport of hockey. With its NHL roots, it immediately builds a special connection to a much larger hockey community, creating unforgettable memories that are bound to last a player's lifetime.

Both of my daughters went thru the program and one of the best program to introduce hockey to any children. Instructors were able to work with all level of players.

We have had 2 boys go through FCLTP and this program is amazing. They have created a safe and fun environment for kids to learn hockey. As a former collegiate player it excites me to see my boys play. I think this is an amazing program all parents who have children that want to play hockey should use.

This program was great for my 7.5 year old. He has skated a few times and loves to roller blade. Providing the equipment made it very easy to get started. Coach Zach was amazing and kept the kids engaged better than any sport coach I have seen across all sports that my kids have been involved in. They were patient with kids who had less skating skills but it did not take away from those that were ready for the next level. All around a great experience.
