With a year of NHL experience under their belts, Canucks defencemen Elias Pettersson and Tom Willander came into this season knowing what to expect.

They both learned a lot last season, each playing 70 NHL games, and used that knowledge to prepare over the offseason. They are feeling more confident in their games, they also shared excitement as training camp and the season approaches.

“I feel like everyone is just so excited. I think everyone is looking forward to a good year, and just like I think everyone been saying it, the vibe in the room. The first weeks here, we've been having really fun, and I think that's a big part of having success,” Pettersson said.

“I really like the group and the vibe we got going in the group right now,” Willander said. “It’s also easier when you know some faces from last year, but I think we’ve got a lot of young guys, and you know, I think just in general, it's a tight group.”

They discuss how the veterans have been leaders during informal skate, talking about Luke Schenn’s ability to rally the team.

“I think just a great guy, great character, and I think he's got a big voice in the locker room, and not at all in a bad way. I think he can push guys in the right direction. I think that's very important, but also very kind and a good person all around,” Willander said.

“I can just agree with what Tom said, a really good guy [and] a lot to learn from him,” Pettersson said.

Pettersson, Willander, and Faber also play Your Core Fore, drafting their top four burger toppings. While they were drafting toppings for a hamburger, Faber goes against the grain and makes selections consistent with a chicken burger.

Faber’s picks were: bacon, pineapple ring, teriyaki sauce, and mayonnaise.

“This guy's making a Subway sandwich. Is this a footlong? What's going on with this burger,” Willander laughed.

Willander’s picks: cheese, BBQ sauce, lettuce, and tomato.

D-Petey picks: caramelized onions, truffle mayo, crispy onions, and pickles.
