On Apr. 12, 2014, the Blue Jackets earned a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers in their final game of the regular season. The team had clinched the organization's second playoff berth two games earlier in a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars. That Jackets team ended the season 43-32-7 with 93 points, and went on to garner the first two post-season wins in Jackets' history.
The 2016-17 Blue Jackets team might be even better.
When the final horn sounded Mar. 13, the Jackets didn't just leave the ice with an 5-3 win over Philadelphia, they set a new record for wins in franchise history (44) and for total standings points (94) with 14 games left to play in the regular season.
"It's outstanding for our team," Nick Foligno said. "We're starting to show that we're a good team and a team that believes in itself and takes pride in the way we play. What we're doing here, it's got to continue and hopefully there's more records to be broken."
In fact, this year's Jackets have broken quite a few records already in many facets of the game.

Starting in November, the 10-0 win over Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 4 marks the most goals scored by the Jackets in a single game, the largest margin of victory, and the largest shutout in franchise history. The 9 wins and 21 points (9-2-3) the Jackets earned in November are the most for that month in club history.
Then December rolled around. And the Jackets built on the previous month's success. The Jackets didn't lose a game in the month of December and their 14 wins set a new record for most wins and most points in single month in club history. It was also the second most wins in a perfect single calendar month in NHL history (Pittsburgh went 15-0-0 in Mar. 2013).
Mixed in with that success, on Dec. 22 vs. Pittsburgh, Columbus had the three fastest goals scored (:51) in franchise history (Previous record: Mar. 22 v Calgary, 1:15).
The Jackets added one more win to December's tally to earn 16-straight wins. That set a franchise record and now stands as the second longest win streak all-time in the National Hockey League (Pittsburgh, 17).

Along the way the Jackets have had 10 sellouts at Nationwide Arena, the most since 2003-04 (16). On the ice, the team has three straight shutouts at home for the first time in franchise history and remain the only team in the NHL this season to not have lost three consecutive games.
This team has set franchise bests for home win streaks (8; Nov. 29-Jan. 3), road win streaks (8; Dec. 1-31), road point streaks (11; Nov. 20-Dec. 31; 10-0-1),, game point streaks (18; Nov. 25-Jan. 3; 17-0-1) and shots in a game (60; Dec. 3 at Arizona).
But even as the accomplishments pile up, this is a team that knows there is more work to do.
"I always think you have to think about the history of the organization," John Tortorella said. "You think about the people who have done their work as far as what the record (was). it brings back some memories of those other teams which I think is good for the people, for the organization, and for the new guys in the organization.
"As far as this group here, I'm just looking forward to the next day. As far as the big picture, I just want to have a good (next) game."
