Blue Jackets recall Robinson from Monsters

Club recalls Robinson and assigns Letestu

The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled left wing Eric Robinson from the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, as well as assigned center Mark Letestu to the AHL team, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Robinson, 23, made his Blue Jackets season debut on January 5 at Florida and collected three shots while averaging 12:41 of ice time in three games. He has added 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points with 15 penalty minutes, a +3 plus/minus rating and 90 shots in 45 appearances with the Monsters this season. He leads team rookies in goals, assists, points and plus/minus.

The Bellmawr, New Jersey native, who signed a two-year entry level contract with the Blue Jackets on March 26, 2018, collected two shots and a +1 plus/minus rating in his NHL debut in the team's 2017-18 regular season finale on April 7 at Nashville. Prior to turning pro, he notched 39-28-67 and 74 penalty minutes in 128 career games at Princeton University (ECAC) from 2014-18. In his senior campaign in 2017-18, the 6-2, 200-pound winger set career highs with 17-14-31 and 44 penalty minutes in 36 games while serving as team captain.

Letestu, 34, who was signed by the Blue Jackets to a one-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract on Sept. 27, 2018, made his team season debut on January 31 at Winnipeg and registered one shot with a 83.3 pct. faceoff win percentage while averaging 9:20 of ice time in two games. He has notched 93-117-210 points with 90 penalty minutes in 558 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Edmonton Oilers and Pittsburgh Penguins. He is one of six players in Blue Jackets history to play for the organization on multiple occasions, posting 44-58-102 in 257 games with Columbus from 2011-15 and 2017-19.

The Elk Point, Alberta native has added 13-13-26 in 39 games with the Monsters in 2018-19, ranking fourth on the club in scoring. He has collected 64-96-160, 67 penalty minutes and a +26 plus/minus rating in 230 career AHL games with the Monsters and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from 2006-10 and 2018-19. 

The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they host the Washington Capitals. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
