Battalion Breakdown is a closer look at the Blue Jackets' past season from a numerical standpoint, starting with the highest jersey number and counting down to the lowest. After running through existing Jackets, we have moved on to recent additions to the team. Today, BlueJackets.com examines Anthony Duclair's 2017-18 season and how it impacted the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks.

Signing Anthony Duclair to a one-year, one-way contract at the league minimum of $650,000 could prove to be the bargain of the summer in the NHL for the Blue Jackets.
After scoring 20 goals and adding 22 assists as a 20-year old rookie with the Arizona Coyotes in 2015-16, Duclair took a step back the following year and entered last season looking to rebound.
Duclair was heading in that direction with the Coyotes in 2017-18, with 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 33 games, but was dealt to Chicago after requesting a trade from the Coyotes. Cast in a different role with the Blackhawks, Duclair still found ways to contribute for his new team despite a slight drop in ice time.

He had eight points (two goals, six assists) in 23 games, but his third full season in the NHL came to a grinding halt during his second shift against the Boston Bruins on March 10 at TD Garden.
Bruins forward Brad Marchand collided with Duclair in the Bruins' zone, on a hit that was penalized, and Duclair's knee twisted awkwardly. He missed the Blackhawks' remaining 13 games and headed into the offseason.
Now two seasons removed from his impressive rookie season, Duclair is looking to reignite his career. Before he continues that quest in Columbus, here's a look back at how it went last season:
.89
Duclair got off to a hot start with the Coyotes in 2017-18, averaging 1.2 goals per 60 minutes in his 33 games with Arizona. Despite that stretch, which the highest goal-scoring rate of his NHL career, Duclair was traded to Chicago. His goal production dropped considerably with the Blackhawks, to just 0.4 per 60 minutes, which worked out to an average of .89 goals per 60 for the season.
23
Duclair's season-ending injury cut short his rebound effort, but he still showed that his 44-point rookie year wasn't a fluke. With 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 56 games, Duclair was on pace to pass the 30-point mark had he stayed healthy.
3
One area Duclair could help Columbus is with the man-advantage, which he showed with three power-play goals for the Coyotes last season. Duclair also exceled on power plays as a rookie, when he tied for the lead among all NHL rookies with eight power play goals in 81 games.
650,000
Duclair has already proven he can produce at a high level, but he's looking to do it consistently. Depending on training camp and the preseason, there's a chance Duclair can earn regular minutes on the third or fourth line in Columbus. If that happens, and he returns to his rookie form, his $650,000 contract will look great as the Blue Jackets look to compete while staying under the NHL Salary Cap.
213
Duclair certainly fits the Jackets' young, talented persona. When Columbus begins camp in a month, he'll only be a couple weeks out from his 23rd birthday (Aug. 26). Despite his youth, Duclair has already played 213 games in the NHL during three-plus seasons.
4
Sticking with the theme of being young and talented, Duclair also fits in with several new teammates heading into 2018-19 with high expectations. Duclair is the fourth Blue Jackets' player from the 2013 NHL Draft, taken in the third round (No. 80). Also selected in that draft were defenseman Seth Jones (No. 4 overall), center Alex Wennberg (No. 14 overall) and forward Oliver Bjorkstrand (third round, No. 89).
