Blue Jackets Assign Forward Zac Dalpe To Monsters

Monsters open AHL Playoff play on Friday

The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Zac Dalpe to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Dalpe, 29, has recorded 12 goals and 13 assists for 25 points and 36 penalty minutes in 141 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes. He has collected 0-1-1 and 13 penalty minutes in 13 games with Columbus since being claimed off waivers from Minnesota on Feb. 27, 2017. He recorded his first career CBJ assist in his lone game with the team this season on Nov. 15 vs. Florida. 

A native of Paris, Ontario, Dalpe has added 141-130-271, 176 penalty minutes and a +18 plus/minus rating in 360 career American Hockey League outings with the Cleveland Monsters, Iowa Wild, Rochester Americans, Utica Comets, Charlotte Checkers and Albany River Rats since making his pro debut in 2009-10. He finished third-T in the AHL in goals and 13th-T in power play goals and led Cleveland in goals, points and power play goals in 2018-19, posting 33-22-55, 43 penalty minutes, 10 power play goals and a +17 plus/minus rating in 55 games.

The 6-2, 194-pound forward played two seasons at Ohio State from 2008-10, registering 34-36-70, 44 penalty minutes and a +19 plus/minus rating in 76 games. He was named to the 2010 All-CCHA First Team and NCAA West Second All-American Team after he notched 21-24-45 and 19 penalty minutes in 39 appearances in 2009-10. Dalpe was selected by Carolina in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.

The Blue Jackets defeated the Presidents' Trophy-winning Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs First Round and have advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the first time in franchise history. The Jackets will play either the Toronto Maple Leafs or Boston Bruins in the next round with game dates and times to be determined.
