Shamil Shmakov 2018 NHL Draft

DALLAS--The Colorado Avalanche used its final selection at Saturday's 2018 NHL Draft, No. 202 overall in the seventh round, on goaltender Shamil Shmakov.
Shmakov, 18, played 51 games last season with Sibirskie Snaipery Novosibirsk in the Russian junior league. He had a 2.03 goals-against average and .932 save percentage during the regular season and a 3.62 goals-against average and .897 save percentage in three postseason contests.

During his first season with the club in 2016-17, he recorded a 2.74 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in 15 games.
Prior to his time with Sibirskie Snaipery Novosibirsk, Shmakov played in the Salavat Yulaev system.
Shmakov, who is 6-foot-6 and 192 pounds, was the third Russian and sixth player from Europe the Avs chose in the draft, which was held at American Airlines Center.
