2020 Postcards From Quebec

The Colorado Avalanche Pee-Wee team began the day on Friday with a behind the scenes tour of the Quebec Parliament Building located in the heart of the city. The Hôtel du Parliament is an eight-floor historical building that is home to the Lietuenant Governor and National Assembly of Quebec. The Jr. Avalanche received an in-depth look into the renowned building and the different functions of each room.
After the tour, the team headed to one of their billet families' Chinese buffet restaurant for a team lunch, a big hit amongst the players.

Following lunch, the Jr. Avs made a pit-stop at one of the many hockey equipment warehouses in the area, L'Entrepôt du Hockey. Players checked out shooting simulators, purchased new equipment and Canadian hockey apparel.
With some free time before the big game, players were able to spend some quality time with their immediate families to get recharged and mentally prepared for their first tournament game. In the evening, the Jr. Avalanche headed to Videotron Center to face the San Diego Jr. Gulls.
Rebounding from a bad exhibition loss the day before, the Avalanche pee-wees defeated the Jr. Gulls in decisive fashion, winning 7-1. Five different Jr. Avs players recorded multi-point games including Dimarco Benallo (two goals, one assist), Brayden Hall (one goal, two assists) and Braeden Reiher (three assists). Goaltender Matthew Toomey played a solid game only allowing one goal against.

The Jr. Avs will play in the second round of the tournament Monday night, back at Videotron center against the St-Hyacinthe Mousquetaires of Quebec. The team will have an off day on Saturday to hang out with their billet families and enjoy a well-deserved day of rest.

Dear Avs Fans,
Today at the Parliament tour we learned a lot of new things. They taught us that water is the main source of energy and that wind is also used as energy in Quebec. We got to walk around the different rooms, including the Red Room that used to be for the Senate. The Chinese buffet was really good, I got to make my own ice cream cone for dessert. At the hockey store a lot of my teammates bought new sticks. I bought some tape, a goal horn and water bottle. Then we got to hang out with our families before the game. I went to Starbucks, watched movies and rested.
At the Videotron Center, the Gulls played well but we were the better team. It was kind of hot in there, just like when we played at the Pepsi Center for the qualifier tournament. We forechecked well and didn't give up too many odd-man rushes in the defensive zone. Tomorrow we get to hang out with our billet families. My family speaks good English and make really good food. They have a nice house with an outdoor rink and sauna. Go Avs!
Sincerely,#9
