Manson sustained the lower-body injury in Thursday's game against Buffalo.
Andreas Englund was recalled in his place from the Colorado Eagles on Friday. Englund has appeared in four games for the Avalanche this season, tallying one assist and averaging 10:59 of ice time.
"Englund has played good when he's been up with us." Bednar said. "I really like what he did when he was up… just another big, heavy, strong guy that's been an efficient puck mover for us on the backend."
Jared Bednar was asked on replacing Mansons' physicality and responded, "You can't" citing that the Avs defenseman will take a "by-committee" approach.
Manson has recorded six points (2G, 4A), and averaged 16:57 of ice time in his 21 games this season.
The Avalanche are now without eight players: Josh Manson (lower-body), Evan Rodrigues (lower-body), Shane Bowers (upper-body, Valeri Nichushkin (lower-body), Kurtis MacDermid (lower-body), Bowen Byram (lower-body), Gabriel Landeskog (lower-body) and Darren Helm (lower-body).
