Nathan MacKinnon's second multi-goal contest in his last three games helped the Avalanche defeat the Bruins 4-1 at Ball Arena on Saturday. Martin Necas and Josh Manson each scored for the Avs while Scott Wedgewood stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced in net for Colorado.

“Overall, I don’t think there was a whole lot to it," Gabriel Landeskog said about the game. "I thought we deserved to win. We played really well 5-on-5, [limited] their scoring chances for the most part. Obviously, there are things we can do better, but overall, a good W.”

With the victory the Avalanche won their third-consecutive contest and improved to 5-0-1.

How It Happened

Boston's John Beecher opened the scoring with a goal at 3:11 of the first period via a shot from the left circle.

MacKinnon tied the game at 7:08 of the first period with his fifth goal of the season on a partial breakaway set up by Artturi Lehkonen's feed after he intercepted a Bruins pass.

He just understands what he has to do and I understand what I have to do," MacKinnon said about Lehkonen. "[It] works well. He works well with everybody, to be honest. He’s a good player.”

The Avs took a 2-1 lead at 10:22 of the first period when Manson scored via a one-timer from the point shortly after Colorado won a faceoff. With the primary assist on the goal, Brent Burns became the oldest player in franchise history to record a four-game point streak.

MacKinnon doubled Colorado's lead with his second goal of the game and sixth of the season via a right-circle one-timer set up by Lehkonen at 4:14 of the third period.

The Avs took a 4-1 lead at 17:23 of the third period when Necas scored his fourth goal of the season via an empty-net tally.
