Riding a three-game win streak, the Colorado Avalanche return to Ball Arena as they take on the Vancouver Canucks Wednesday night. Coverage is slated to begin at 8 p.m. on Altitude Sports.

Wednesday's meeting between the two teams is the first of a three-game series versus the Canucks this season. The final two matchups are both in Vancouver on Jan. 5 & 20.


LAST TIME OUT

Coming off a perfect 3-0 road trip, the Avalanche took care of business in Dallas on Monday night with a 3-2 shootout victory. Cale Makar scored off a blistering one-timer that went top shelf to tally his 200th career point (195 GP), becoming the fastest defenseman ever to reach the milestone and 12 games fewer than the previous best mark (Sergei Zubov - 207 GP).
Alex Newhook scored in the third period to extend his point streak to three games, before Mikko Rantanen found the back of the net in the third round of the shootout to give the Avs their seventh win in the last eight games.

Vancouver suffered a 5-4 defeat against the Vegas Golden Knights Monday night after giving up three unanswered goals in the third period. Quinn Hughes notched two assists and four different Canucks found the back of the net (Elias Pettersson, Bo Horvat, Andrei Kuzmenko and Luke Schenn).


HISTORY

Colorado owns a 78-65-26 all-time mark versus Vancouver, with a 62-44-18 record since 1995-96.
The Avs went 2-1 against the Canucks in the 2021-22 regular season, that included a 12-6 scoring margin.
