Colorado Travels to Pittsburgh to Finish Home-and-Away

Following their first matchup since 2020 on Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche and the Pittsburgh Penguins turn around for a rematch in Pittsburgh on Tuesday at 5 p.m. MT.
The Avs secured a victory against the Penguins in their most recent contest, winning by a score of 3-2. Nathan MacKinnon (two assists) and Mikko Rantanen (one goal, one assist) each secured two points to lead the team. Devon Toews and Nicolas Aube-Kubel both scored a goal, while Alex Newhook, Nico Sturm, and Andre Burakovsky all tallied an assist.

Looking forward, Colorado will play back-to-back this weekend, starting in Winnipeg against the Jets and finishing against the Edmonton Oilers.

COLORADO-PITTSBURGH CONNECTIONS

Colorado defenseman Jack Johnson played with the Penguins for two seasons, from 2018-19 through 2019-20... Avs center Nathan MacKinnon and Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby are both from Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, and train together in the offseason.

Since last week, the Avalanche improved to a 43-36-12 all-time mark against Pittsburgh. When on the road against the Penguins, Colorado maintains a 20-20-7 record.

Bowen Byram has been recalled from the Colorado Eagles and is joining the Avalanche on the upcoming road trip.
INJURY REPORT
Captain Gabriel Landeskog will be sidelined for weeks after knee surgery. Nazem Kadri will miss time with an upper-body injury and is looking to return in time for the playoffs. Samuel Girard has skated in a no-contact jersey but is not yet ready to play. Ryan Murray is still sidelined on a week-to-week basis.
