While a number of Wild players sought warmer weather during the All-Star break, Jordie and Jessi remained in Minnesota to welcome a brand new baby boy to their now family of four.
And while his legal name is Philip, just like Jordie's is, he'll be called Boone.

"Always just liked the name Boone," Benn said. "For a long time we just talked about it and there were a couple of other names that we were interested in and Boone was the one we stuck with."
As is tradition in the Benn family, the first-born boy carried the name Philip but is referred to by their middle name.
Benn's given name is Philip Jordan Ellis Benn. His dad's name is Philip Randolph Benn, but everyone calls him Randy.
Now Philip Boone Ellis Benn will be Boone, with the Ellis coming from his mother's maiden name.
Boone was born on Feb. 5 and came into the world at 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 21 inches long. Both baby and mom are happy, healthy and home, where 18-month-old Billie was ready, willing and eager to take on big-sister duties.

"She's been really excited about the new addition," Benn said. "She wants to hold him and kiss him and be all over him, so it's nice."
Jordie and Jessi chose not to be informed of the gender of either one of their babies, choosing instead to be surprised when they came.
"My dad says that as you get older, you don't have many surprises in life," Benn said. "We have control over this one, so it was a nice little surprise when they came out.
"Obviously getting the boy was awesome, but whether it was a boy or a girl, it didn't matter to us. We're really excited for both our kids and they're a lot of fun."
Having only experienced a girl so far, Benn said he's learned quickly that changing protocol can be a little different with boys, especially with the crisp Minnesota air this time of year.

"Just watch out for diaper changes because it's a lot different between a girl and a boy. I've already noticed it," Benn said with a laugh. "When you take a diaper off a girl, it's not the end of the world if she goes to the bathroom with it off. But with boys, you gotta watch the projectile."
The Benn kids have provided a nice link between Jordie and his NHL playing career. Billie was born in Dallas, where Jordie played 5 seasons with the Stars and where he and Jessi live in the offseason.
Boone, of course, was born in Minnesota.
"We talked about getting her induced so I could have a few extra days with Boone," Benn said, "but he ended up coming along just perfectly."
