Condon, 27, was acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for the team's fifth-round draft pick in 2017 on Nov. 2, 2016. He went on to play in 40 games for the Senators in 2016-17, posting a 19-14-6 record with a 2.48 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and five shutouts.
His first season in Ottawa featured several team records, including playing in a franchise-best 27 consecutive games between Dec. 1, 2016, and Feb. 4, 2017. He became the fastest goaltender in franchise history to record five shutouts, when he did so in his 32nd game on Feb. 16 versus the New Jersey Devils. Along with Craig Anderson, the duo became the first pair of goaltenders in franchise history to each record at least five shutouts in one season while matching the franchise best (10) that was established in 2001-02.
The 6-2, 197-pound native of Holliston, Mass., was also named the Molson Cup Award winner as the team's top player in both December and January.
Undrafted, Condon was originally signed to a two-year contract by the Montreal Canadiens on May 8, 2013, after concluding his final season of collegiate eligibility with the NCAA's Princeton Tigers earlier that spring. In 55 games with Montreal in 2015-16, including 51 starts, he earned a record of 21-25-6 with a .903 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average. He was claimed by the Penguins on waivers in October 2016 before being acquired by the Senators.
