Prior to the game, the team will hold a special ceremony with 13-year-old Ottawa native, Julia Miller. Julia was diagnosed with Leukemia in March of 2017 and has undergone extensive treatment over the past year. Recently, she has been declared cancer free.
Money raised on Thursday will go towards pediatric cancer research and support services so the Canadian Cancer Society can help more families like Julia's.
Fans can join the fight against cancer by downloading an "I Fight For" card, writing the name of someone they know who has been affected by cancer and sharing it via social media using the hash tag #hockeyfightscancer. Prior to the ceremonial faceoff, fans will then be asked to stand and display their cards in support of Julia and the thousands of others like her who are battling this disease.
Select Senators wives and girlfriends will join volunteers from the Canadian Cancer Society and Ottawa Senators Foundation president and CEO Danielle Robinson when the doors open at 6 p.m. to distribute Hockey Fights Cancer "I Fight For" cards and sell limited edition Hockey Fights Cancer merchandise including: autographed Senators mystery mini-sticks at Gate 1, behind Section 116 and 106. Sales will also take place in two areas on the 200-level behind Sections 208 and 222.
To support the initiative fans can:
- Text message SENS to 45678 for a $10 donation and SENATORS to 45678 for a $5 contribution. The NHL will match all generated funds up to a total of $5,000.
- Download an "I Fight For" card and show us for whom you are fighting and share it via social media using the hashtag #hockeyfightscancer.

- Purchase limited edition autographed Senators mystery mini-sticks for $20 and other Hockey Fights Cancer merchandise.

All proceeds from Hockey Fights Cancer donations will be directed to the Ottawa Senators Foundation in support of the Canadian Cancer Society's pediatric cancer research and support services.
Hockey Fights Cancer, part of the National Hockey League's cancer awareness program, is a joint charitable initiative founded in December 1998 by the NHL and NHL Players' Association. It is supported by players, NHL member clubs, NHL alumni, the NHL Officials' Association, professional hockey athletic trainers and equipment managers, corporate marketing partners, broadcast partners and fans throughout North America. The goal of Hockey Fights Cancer is to raise money and awareness for national and local organizations involved in cancer care and research.
To date, through the NHL's US and Canadian charitable foundations, more than $20 million has been raised under the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative to support national and local cancer research institutions, children's hospitals, player charities and local cancer organizations.
