Game 2

The Buffalo Sabres continue their Round 1 matchup versus the Boston Bruins with Game 2 on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at KeyBank Center.

Game 1 saw the Sabres overcome a 2-0 deficit with four goals in the final eight minutes, but they know they have a better full-game effort in them. A steady attack had the Bruins in their own zone for much of the night, but it wasn’t until late that Buffalo started winning the low puck battles and beating Jeremy Swayman.

“We went through the game, areas we thought we were pretty good at, a couple areas we’d like to improve,” coach Lindy Ruff said Monday. “Talked about putting this game away and moving on to the next one, knowing that it’s a desperate situation for them. No team really wants to go down two games to none, and we’d like to put them in that situation.”

“Boston’s going to come out and try and have a really strong push in Game 2,” added Alex Tuch. “We’ve got to try to take care of business at home.”

Lineup notes (updated 11:40 a.m.)

The Sabres are expected to roll with the same lineup from Game 1 based on the morning skate, including a second straight start in goal for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

Colten Ellis was back on the ice for the morning skate after missing recent practices for maintenance, so the Sabres should have all three goalies (Luukkonen, Ellis and Alex Lyon) available moving forward.

Scouting the Bruins

Boston will not make any changes to its lineup, coach Marco Sturm confirmed following the team's morning skate.

While the Sabres had a 38-20 edge in shots in Game 1, Sturm has expressed confidence in how the Bruins played prior to surrendering their 2-0 lead in the final eight minutes.

"We felt pretty good about last game," Sturm said. "We did a lot of good things. We just had to focus on a few things yesterday. ... But, overall, being on the road, being in this environment, our guys did a pretty good job of handling that."

The Bruins' projected lineup is as follows:

Geekie - Lindholm - Pastrnak

Mittelstadt - Zacha - Arvidsson

Hagens - Minten - Khusnutdinov

Jeannot - Kuraly - Kastelic

Aspirot - McAvoy

Lindholm - Lohrei

Zadorov - Peeke

Swayman

Korpisalo

From the locker room

Sabres coach Lindy Ruff on the mindset heading into Game 2: "We started with a meeting to talk about, 'Game 1 is over, and we're onto Game 2.' Game 2 can take a whole new look. There's a lot of stuff that can happen and change. We've got a team that's going to be desperate. No team wants to be down 2-0. And we'd like to push it to 2-0."

Lindy Ruff - April 21, 2026

Sabres forward Josh Dunne on getting his first NHL playoff experience in Game 1: "Oh, it was so exciting. It's a dream come true to play in the playoffs. I had to pinch myself the other day about it. So, I had so much fun with it and it was an amazing experience. Looking forward to continuing it."
