The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward John Hayden to a one-year deal worth $750,000, the team announced Thursday.
Hayden, 26, tallied five points (2+3) in 29 games with the Arizona Coyotes last season. He has 31 points (13+18) in 185 games spanning five NHL seasons with Chicago, New Jersey, and Arizona.

The 6-foot-3, right-shot forward was a third-round draft pick by the Coyotes in 2013. He played four collegiate seasons at Yale University, earning recognition First Team All-Ivy League honors after tallying 34 points (21+13) in 31 games as a senior.
Hayden previously played for Sabres coach Don Granato with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2011 to 2013. Together, they earned a silver medal at the 2013 U-18 World Championship, a team that also featured recent acquisitions Will Butcher and Sean Malone.
