About the Red Wings
The Red Wings (10-10-2) are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Montreal at Joe Louis Arena Saturday. Detroit went 0-3 on the power play, including a chance in overtime before Montreal's Alex Galchenyuk scored with 1:23 remaining in the extra period. The Red Wings are 2-0-1 in their past three games after going 2-8-1 in their previous eleven.
"It's encouraging for sure. When you're starting to play good hockey you can see it, and I think we're starting to play good hockey,'' Detroit coach Jeff Blashill told media. "I really like our line combinations. I think they mesh well together."
Detroit lost two players in Saturday's game. Defenseman Brendan Smith (knee) and forward Tyler Bertuzzi (ankle) were both placed on injured reserve Monday. Detroit recalled forward Tomas Jurco from a conditioning assignment in the AHL on Monday. Jurco had been out with a back injury.
Tuesday's game is the second of a three-game homestand for the Red Wings.
Injuries: D Brendan Smith (knee), F Tyler Bertuzzi (ankle), F Darren Helm (upper body), F Andreas Athanasiou (lower body), D Alexey Marchenko (upper body), and G Jimmy Howard (groin) are on injured reserve.
