STL@MIN: Donato nets wicked wrister for OT winner

ST. PAUL, Minn. --Ryan Donato scored his first goal with the Minnesota Wild at 2:29 of overtime to give them a 2-1 win against the St. Louis Blues at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday.

Donato, who was acquired in a trade with the Boston Bruins in exchange for Charlie Coyle on Wednesday, shot from along the left wall that beat Blues goalie Jake Allen glove side.
"Especially in overtime, a goalie never really expects a shot from outside, especially the position that I was in," Donato said. "So I just tried to fire it off guard through the guy's legs or stick and luckily it went in."

Alex Pietrangelo scored, and Allen made 33 saves for the Blues (33-23-6), who have lost two of three (1-1-1) following an 11-game winning streak and lead the Dallas Stars by five points for third place in the Central Division.
"It wasn't the way we wanted to start the game," Pietrangelo said. "But I thought we found our stride. A little late, but we found a way to get a point out of it. Right now, we want two, but a point's better than nothing."
Zucker gave the Wild a 1-0 lead at 11:42 of the second period on a one-timer from in front off a pass from Eric Staal. It was Zucker's first goal since Feb. 2 (11 games).

Pietrangelo tied it 1-1 at 7:26 of the third period when his shot from the point on the power play redirected off the leg of Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek into the net.
"It's crazy. I just said to [backup goalie Alex Stalock], 'It's amazing what one week will do,'" Dubnyk said. "I think it's just we're working. We're not panicking if we get stuck in our end or we make a mistake or a bounce goes here or there. We're not letting it affect what we're doing. We're comfortable and you start to get that feeling like you're going to win again. ... You start to get that feeling back, and that's how it goes. We just have to continue to keep growing on it."

They said it

"I don't know what will happen (with the Trade Deadline). There's still a dozen hours until decision time, but we have a pretty good group in here right now. I think we put together something significant here that at the start of the year, I guarantee none of us could have predicted this, it doesn't matter what you said. To see the turnaround in this group and this group of guys, I think we deserve a chance to go at it and I'm sure they feel the same way. We're in a playoff spot as of today and hopefully we can continue that the rest of the games we have left." -- Blues goalie Jake Allen
"We're making the decision tough on [Wild general manager Paul Fenton], and I think that's what he wanted. That's what he was asking us to do, make it hard on him, and it's not an easy job for him at all. But we got to a spot where we have an opportunity to stay together as a group. We'll see what happens." -- Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk on the trade deadline
