GLENDALE --Darcy Kuemper stopped all 23 shots he faced to lead the Coyotes to a resounding 5-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Gila River Arena in the finale of a four-game homestand.

Twelve players produced at least one point for Arizona, with Alex Galchenyuk (one goal, two assists) and Conor Garland (two goals) setting the pace.
"It was a great effort by everyone," said Kuemper, who notched the 12th shutout of his NHL career. "Being ready for the start, we were able to build off that and have a complete 60 (minutes). I was trying to do my part."

Kuemper Liked How Coyotes Didn't Ease Up vs NYR

Kuemper faced fewer than 10 shots in all three periods, but he was ready when needed. Leading 3-0, he made a key save on a breakaway shot by Chris Kreider midway through the second period that essentially served as a knockout punch to New York as it tried to spark a comeback.
"Everyone was ready when they dropped the puck," Kuemper said. "Now we just have to keep it going."

• The Coyotes tallied twice in the first period, and outshot New York 17-5.
Garland scored from in close at 7:19 by redirecting a power-play shot by Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Mario Kempe fired a loose puck in the slot past Henrik Lundqvist exactly two minutes later.
"When we got those two goals, I could feel everybody relax, which was nice," said Coyotes bench boss Rick Tocchet, who earned his 100th win as an NHL head coach. "I felt our second man was on the puck as much as the first guy, and we were creating turnovers, and that's the way we have to play. I know it's hard, but that's just the makeup of this team. We have to play hard like that."

Tocchet Says Coyotes Must Play Hard to Win

• Garland, Galchenyuk, and Clayton Keller chipped in goals in the middle frame to create a laugher. The two-goal performance was the first of Garland's 15-game NHL career.
"We want to play fast and get on teams," said Garland, who led Arizona with seven shots on goal. "We did tonight. We weren't happy with our third against New Jersey (on Friday), so we wanted a good bounce-back game and it starts with the first period. So it's good to see."

Garland: 'We Didn’t Want to Give Them Anything'

• With the win, the Coyotes swept a two-game season series from the Rangers for the first time since 2000-01.
• Stats that jump off the Event Summary: Ilya Lyubushkin delivered five hits, Jordan Oesterle blocked five shots and Derek Stepan won nine of 14 face-offs.
