• Arizona has earned at least one point in seven of its past nine games (6-2-1), and has climbed into fifth place in the Pacific Division standings, just five points behind first-place Vancouver.
• The Coyotes are the NHL's best penalty-killing team with a 91.8 percent success rate. Arizona, which has allowed just one power-play goal in nine road games this season, killed all eight of its opponents' power plays in the first three games of this four-game road trip.
• Backup Darcy Kuemper will again start in goal in place of Antti Raanta, who is nursing a lower-body injury. Kuemper is 1-1-1 vs. Detroit in his career with a 1.93 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage.

He has averaged 18:11 of ice time per game and has produced 11 goals and 23 assists. He will be paired with Niklas Hjalmarsson.
"It's been a long road and he's itching to get in there," Head Coach Rick Tocchet said. "I told him today, be a first-pass guy tonight, let the plays develop ... especially now since he hasn't been out there and hasn't had a training camp. I'd like to see him be just real simple."

Tocchet on Chychrun's Status

Alex Galchenyuk, who has notched at least one point in all but one of his nine games this season, is averaging nearly a point per game vs. Detroit. In 20 games vs. the Red Wings, Galchenyuk has tallied six goals and 12 assists.

The Red Wings rank ninth in the NHL in power-play efficiency at 24.0 percent ... Forwards Jacob de la Rose and Thomas Vanek, and defenseman Jonathan Ericsson are not expected to play because of injuries.
'YOTES QUOTES:
• "I think they're one of the hottest teams in the League right now. It's a little bit different lineup than they had a couple years ago, or five or six years ago, but they're a really hardworking group of guys and they're not going to give us anything for free. So, we definitely have to be on top of our game today if we're going to have success." -- Niklas Hjalmarsson
• "It's been an OK trip. We could actually end up leaving here with five (out of eight possible) points if we win this game. We came out flying the last game and played the way we wanted to, so if we just stick to our game plan I think we're going to have success tonight." -- Vinnie Hinostroza
• "They play a tight game and they're pretty difficult to play against. Looking at their lineup, they have a lot of speedy guys out there, but at the same time we can't focus too much on them. We've got to focus on our game and what we've got to do." -- Alex Galchenyuk
