Jeff Petry, meanwhile, who lit the lamp twice when the two teams last met five weeks ago, says neutralizing the Senators' speed with the likes of Kyle Turris and Ryan Dzingel up front, will be particularly important if the Canadiens are going to continue to build their lead atop the Atlantic Division.
"They're a team that has some skill up front and some speed up front, so we need to make it hard on them by getting pucks behind their D and making them play in the D zone," explained Petry. "You don't want to get into a run-and-gun game and give guys chances because they have the ability to score. You don't want to open up and give them those chances."
- Heading into their 20th game of the year on Tuesday night, the Canadiens find themselves with a league-leading 30 points in the bank, one point clear of the New York Rangers and two points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks.
While Therrien's charges are pleased that they've started the year off strong, they insist there's still plenty of room for improvement so early in the season.
"You look at where we are in the standings, we're all happy with that, but we all know that we have more to give. We know we're a better team than we've been playing. That's a positive," said Shaw. "We've got some wins that we probably shouldn't have. Carey stole a few games for us. Knowing that we've got more, the year is only going to get better. We've got to keep pushing ourselves and try to better ourselves every game, just stay healthy and keep competing."
- Carey Price will get the start in goal for the Canadiens. He boasts an 11-0-1 record on the season, along with a 1.58 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage. The Senators will counter with Craig Anderson between the pipes.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on Sportsnet East and TSN5, as well as on RDS2, which will be available to all RDS subscribers on Tuesday night. RDS will be featuring the MLS Eastern Conference Final matchup between the Montreal Impact and Toronto FC.
