The Predators recalled defenseman Adam Pardy from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League on Monday, and he could play his second game this season. He also played Dec. 8 against the Dallas Stars.
Coach Peter Laviolette would not discuss his lineup, but at the morning skate Petter Granberg skated in Subban's spot on a pairing with Mattias Ekholm. The other pairings were Josi with Ryan Ellis and Matt Irwin with Yannick Weber.
"Filling the hole isn't easy," Laviolette said. "If we had another P.K., we'd use him."
Ekholm said regardless of who's on defense, the Predators can't change the way they play.
"Whoever is stepping into his position is going to have to play his game and play out of his abilities," he said. "P.K. is a great player and world-class defenseman. It's tough to fill his shoes. But I think we have the right personnel to step up for it.
"Whoever I play with I'll try to play my game and whoever is playing with me, I know it's going to be a good fit. We have a lot of great defensemen on this team. I don't see it as a big problem."
