Facts and Figures: Penguins combine for 14 goals in two days

The Pittsburgh Penguins are generating offense even without injured forwards Evgeni Malkin, Alex Galchenyuk and Nick Bjugstad. They scored seven goals for the second time in as many days and third time this season with a 7-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Bell MTS Place on Sunday.

Sam Lafferty, Jake Guentzel and Zach Aston-Reese each scored two goals for Pittsburgh, which has won three straight games. The Penguins scored at least seven goals in consecutive days of a regular season for the fourth time in their history and first since Oct. 17-18, 1986.

Sidney Crosby (10 points; three goals, seven assists) and Kris Letang (eight points; two goals, six assists) each had two assists to extend their season-opening point streaks to six games, the longest active runs in the NHL. Letang also became the first Penguins defenseman to reach 500 points in the NHL (501 points; 114 goals, 387 assists).

Stastny, Pacioretty, Stone total eight points for Golden Knights

Paul Stastny (four points; two goals, two assists), Max Pacioretty (three points; one goal, two assists) and Mark Stone (one goal) totaled eight points for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 5-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.
Stastny scored two power-play goals in a regular-season game for the second time in his NHL career and first since Feb. 20, 2007 as a rookie with the Colorado Avalanche. His four-point performance was the 13th through the first 12 days of the 2019-20 season.

Marleau continues roll for Sharks

Patrick Marleau had an assist to help the San Jose Sharks to a 3-1 win against the Calgary Flames at SAP Center. The 40-year-old forward has three points (two goals, one assist) in two games since returning to the Sharks, who have won two straight after an 0-4-0 start.
Sharks goalie Martin Jones (32 saves) is 6-0-0 with a 1.81 goals-against average and .947 save percentage in his past six starts against the Flames. San Jose's win was also No. 683 for Doug Wilson since he was named general manager May 13, 2003, passing Conn Smythe (682) for 19th place in NHL history. Wilson's 683 wins are also 12th-most by a GM with one team. Harry Sinden of the Boston Bruins is first with 1,170.

Oilers, Avalanche look to stay undefeated

The Edmonton Oilers (5-0-0) and Colorado Avalanche (4-0-0) will each try to remain undefeated as part of a seven-game schedule Monday.
The Oilers play the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center (8:30 p.m. ET; NHLN, SN1, NBCSCH, NHL.TV), with Chicago (0-2-1) looking for its first win of the season. Edmonton has won at least six in a row to start a season once in their history, when they were 7-0-0 to begin 1983-84 en route to winning the first of five Stanley Cup championships in seven seasons (1985, 1987, 1988 and 1990).
The Avalanche visit the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena (5 p.m. ET; ESPN+, NBCSWA, ALT, NHL.TV) seeking a season-opening winning streak of at least five games for the fourth time in Colorado/Quebec Nordiques history. The Nordiques started 7-0-0 in 1985-86. Colorado began 5-0-0 in 1995-96 and 6-0-0 in 2013-14.
