Jimmy Vesey scored for New York (22-14-5), which has won its past nine games against the Coyotes, and Mika Zibanejad scored the only goal in the shootout. The Rangers are 6-2-2 in their past 10 games.
Lundqvist, who saved all three shootout attempts by Arizona, passed Tony Esposito for eighth place on the NHL wins list with 424.
"I felt really good," said Lundqvist, who made 10 saves in the first period, when the Coyotes controlled possession. "With the way the first period went, it was a lot of chances and they're a quick team.
"They have a lot of young guys that are still learning when to go and when to be smart but you can see the skill and the speed and they work hard. They work really hard and we got outworked in the first."

Anthony Duclair scored for Arizona (10-27-6), which is 3-3-1 in its past seven games after a seven-game losing streak (0-6-1). Raanta made 24 saves in his first game against the Rangers since they traded him to the Coyotes on June 23.
Duclair gave the Coyotes 1-0 lead on a power play at 10:50 of the first period. Christian Dvorak won a face-off to the right of Lundqvist and got the puck to Derek Stepan. Lundqvist stopped Stepan's shot but the rebound came out to Duclair, who beat Lundqvist inside the near post from the bottom of the left face-off circle.
It was Duclair's ninth goal of the season and his second in the past two games. Lundqvist helped make sure Arizona didn't score from there.
"Their goalie was the difference tonight," Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said of Lundqvist, who is 5-2-2 with 19 goals against in his past nine starts.
Vesey scored at 5:11 of the second period when he stripped the puck from Oliver Ekman-Larsson along the right boards and cut to the net before lifting a high shot over Raanta.
The Coyotes did not score on the power play for the final 1:29 of overtime. Lundqvist made three saves in the period.
Raanta said he had a bad feeling when Zibanejad started the shootout for New York.
"He has probably 16 different moves so it was kind of tough to decide where he was going to go," Raanta said. "He has a quick release and he got it top shelf. He has such good hands. He could have easily put it to the five-hole and I wouldn't have had a chance."
