Joe Thornton will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday.

The San Jose Sharks center is facing discipline for an illegal check to the head against Vegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Nosek in Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round on Sunday.

The incident occurred at 16:45 of the second period in the Sharks' 6-3 loss at T-Mobile Arena. Thornton received a minor penalty for an illegal check to the head.
The Golden Knights lead the best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series 2-1 with Game 4 at Vegas on Tuesday.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.
