Tatar agrees to four-year contract with Red Wings

Forward Tomas Tatar and the Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms on a four-year contract Friday. It has an average annual value of $5.3 million, according to Sportsnet.
Tatar had an arbitration hearing in Toronto on Thursday but the sides agreed to a contract prior to the arbitrator's ruling.

"It's really exciting we [found a way] to get [the] deal done," Tatar said, according to the Detroit Free Press. "It was a little stressful; I was not real happy it went all the way there. I think we were always trying to find a way to sign a deal without having to wait for [the] arbitrator and I am really glad we did it."
Tatar, 26, had 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists) in 82 games with the Red Wings last season. He has scored at least 21 goals in each of the past three seasons and has missed one game in that span.
"I really, really wanted to [stay], I love it here," Tatar said. "I have so many friends, I have [a] great relationship with guys in the locker room. It would be really hard to have [a] one-year deal and not know what is coming in the future. I am extremely happy to stay. It is [a] big relief."

Selected by the Red Wings in the second round (No. 60) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Tatar has 194 points (99 goals, 95 assists) in 345 NHL regular-season games, all with Detroit. He has three goals and four assists in 17 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Tatar said he had shoulder surgery in April but should be ready for training camp in September.
"I have a very special relationship with the Red Wings," Tatar told The Detroit News. "I was a huge fan and it's a really big relief for me to stay and continue my NHL career in Detroit."
