Dallas Stars fantasy projections for 2026-27

As part of NHL.com's 32 in 32 series, the fantasy hockey staff ranks the top five Dallas Stars players for standard leagues and provides skater points and goalie wins projections for the 2026-27 season.

1. Jason Robertson, F

NHL.com fantasy rank: 9

Robertson was tied for fourth in the entire NHL in goals (45) last season and became the third player in franchise history with three 40-goal seasons (Dino Ciccarelli, four; Brian Bellows, three). The 27-year-old has led the Stars in points in three of the past four seasons, including 2022-23, when he had an NHL career-high 109 points (46 goals, 63 assists). Over the past two seasons combined, Robertson is one of two NHL players with at least 80 goals, 500 shots on goal (505) and 60 power-play points; the other is Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche. Robertson, who has not missed a game over the past four seasons, ranks in the top 10 overall in NHL.com’s fantasy rankings.

2. Wyatt Johnston, F

NHL.com fantasy rank: 16

Johnston set NHL career highs in goals (45 in 82 games), assists (41), points (86) and power-play points (42; tied for third in League) last season. It was his third straight season recording new career highs in each of those categories, a clear indication Johnston is on an upward fantasy trajectory. Johnston scored a League-leading 27 power-play goals, a single-season franchise record and tied for the second most by any player over the past 30 years (Leon Draisaitl scored 32 power-play goals with Edmonton Oilers in 2022-23). The 23-year-old is finally becoming a household name in fantasy circles; he is among the top 20 in NHL.com’s overall rankings and top five in fantasy keeper and dynasty rankings, which are the best 25-and-younger options for long-term formats.

3. Mikko Rantanen, F

NHL.com fantasy rank: 23

Despite being limited to 64 games due to an injury sustained while playing for Finland at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Rantanen led the Stars in assists (55) and ranked third in goals (22), points (77) and power-play points (34). Since 2021-22 (past five seasons combined), Rantanen ranks seventh in the entire NHL in points per game (1.22) and is one of three forwards with at least 400 points (466), 200 blocks (207) and 280 hits (284) over that span (Auston Matthews, J.T. Miller). The 29-year-old is a bounce-back candidate and gives the Stars three players in the top 25 overall rankings for standard redraft leagues.

4. Jake Oettinger, G

NHL.com fantasy rank: 41

Oettinger, who was 35-12-6 last season, remains one of the NHL’s top workhorse goalie options; he is one of six at his position to make at least 50 starts in each of the past four seasons (Connor Hellebuyck, Juuse Saros, Igor Shesterkin, Ilya Sorokin and Andrei Vasilevskiy) and ranks second in wins (143) over that same span, right behind Hellebuyck (144). Despite his worst save percentage (.899) in any of his six NHL seasons, Oettinger ranked third in wins and ninth in fantasy points (521.4) among goalies last season. Oettinger remains a fringe top 40 overall fantasy option and is fifth among goalies in NHL.com’s rankings at the position

5. Roope Hintz, F

NHL.com fantasy rank: 86

Dallas is one of two teams (Montreal Canadiens) with six players in NHL.com’s top 100 overall fantasy rankings, including three Finland-born players in Rantanen, Hintz and defenseman Miro Heiskanen (89th). A torn hamstring cost Hintz significant playing time last season, including Dallas’ Stanley Cup Playoff run, which ended in six games against the Minnesota Wild in the Western Conference First Round. The 29-year-old had 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists), 19 on the power play, and 126 shots on goal through 53 games last season. Hintz should play in Dallas’ top-six forward group and see significant power-play time bringing exposure to the Stars’ top wings in Robertson and Rantanen. Hintz is a fringe top 50 forward in NHL.com’s rankings.
