You could say Brenden Dillon threw in the towel Sunday.

The Washington Capitals defenseman didn't quit on the game. He literally threw a towel on the ice after it mistakenly got stuck to his stick blade while heading onto the ice for a shift.
The odd occurrence happened during the third period of the Capitals game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Dillon already was on the ice when he realized the towel he was using on the bench came along with him while defending in the Washington zone.
Dillon thought fast and threw the laundry away so he could use his stick.
Fortunately for Washington there was no penalty.
